The Kids’ Cafe provides 200 meals a day, English and French classes, and asylum advice for children living in the Calais refugee camp.

But it is at risk of being demolished alongside dozens of other restaurants, shops and and amenities.

Tomorrow (Weds) a French court will decide on whether to go ahead and knock down the sites on Friday this week.

Run entirely donations, the Kids Cafe not only provides  two hot meals a day to any child in the camp, but is a safe space for children of the Jungle to spend their days and nights away from adults.

The restaurant acts as a home, where children can eat, watch TV, play pool, play games, and hang out in the evenings, and allows its volunteers to keep an eye on them using a registering system.

Volunteer teacher, Hari Reed said: “The Kids Cafe is so important to the lives of the most vulnerable in the Calais camp.

“While teaching English in the Cafe I got to know many of the boys individually and it is so significant for them to have somewhere they can go to eat, play, study, charge their phones and feel secure.

“I am urging as many people as possible to sign this petition, I truly believe the demolition of this space would have a negative impact on the already difficult lives of these young people.”
