5 Things You Can Do to Celebrate Bold Women Changing the World this International Women’s Day

In the 21st Century women are still fighting for a seat at the table, to have their voices heard, to be recognised. The figures speak for themselves — only 29% of MP’s, 20% of professors and just 6% of executives in top companies are female.

But that isn’t the full story. Because we see fierce and courageous women turning to the internet to make change every day. 50% of the people starting campaigns on Change.org are women.

Tired of waiting for the world to catch up, women are making their own rules. From Jaha, who started a petition and is now building a global movement to end FGM, to Laura who’s using online campaigns to smash the period taboo — women across the world are turning to the internet, becoming leaders and setting the political agenda.

Today, on International Women’s Day, we want to celebrate the bold women on Change.org, like Jaha and Laura and thousands of others, who are behind some of the biggest people-powered changes in the world.

Here are 5 ways you can join us in celebrating these amazing women:

1.Watch this video of Jaha and other bold women campaigning for change

2. Sign Joeli’s petition to help pregnant women fighting workplace discrimination

3. Join the 89,000 people who are calling for the Indian Government to take action against FGM

4. Become a Change.org subscriber and help us to support more women to win on the issues they care about

5. Check out this page of all the campaigns women are starting across the world to make change

By getting behind petitions, you have raised the voices of women like Laura and Jaha, and helped them to change laws, influence policy and disrupt the status quo.

Happy International Women’s Day!
