Jason Jackson delivered his petition calling on Prime Minister Theresa May to hold an urgent review of the use of tasers to the Home Office earlier today (Aug 19).

The father-of-three started his campaign following the tragic death of former Aston Villa footballer Dalian Atkinson on Monday.

Thousands left comments on the petition including personal accounts of being tasered and others with grave concerns on the medical implications of the weapon which is intended to be “non lethal”.

One comment read: “These Tasers are lethal. They must be modified to be non-lethal. If not possible, they should be withdrawn from use.

“Safer methods of restraint must be found. Criteria for the deployment of these weapons and training of those using them must be reviewed and improved immediately.”

A member of the Home Office’s communications team received the petition.

Speaking outside the Home Office, Jason said he had been “overwhelmed” by the support and stacks of media attention on his campaign and felt “determined” to continue until the government responds.
